“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
God gives us friends for a reason. He knows that to help us learn, grow, and understand life better that we needed people that we could trust and confide in. Friendship can be risky. When you become friends with people, you give a piece of you to them, and they to you. You acquire a lifetime of memories—some that make you laugh continuously and others that you just wish you would forget. David talks about close friends here. How close is close? I think Jesus set the ultimate example for being a friend. He laid down his life for us. We like to think that we would lay down our life for some of our friends but would there be hesitation? Would we have to debate it in our minds first? Would we back out? Jesus didn’t back out. He gave not just a piece of him but all of him, for us. How awesome is that.
Friends are a gift from God and although we may take them for granted remember next time your with them that God chose them for you. Thank God for your friendships.
